Students engage with questions of economic and ecological sustainability and align themselves with real challenges of our time. Central topics include the leeway for action and the responsibility of companies and the state in a changing producer and consumer reality.
Basic knowledge of operational processes and economic market processes is conveyed. Starting from exporting Germany as a nation, European and global market activity is analyzed, and different economic orders are examined for their feasibility. Additionally, we seek answers to the question of how a just global economic order should be designed and what responsibilities we as market participants have from the perspective of households as well as companies.
In the seminar, the focus lies on project orientation – the founding of a student company in collaboration with the external partner 'Juniorproject' of the Institute of the German Economy in Cologne. The students found a company and operate with their own business idea as in real business life, with the difference of simplified conditions. Economic education and business knowledge are acquired in a 'life-like' manner. The students work more independently than in conventional lessons and must tackle the unfamiliar, economy-life–modeled, complex challenges of the project on time.
