The career and study orientation of our students is very important to us with regard to individual life-path planning. Therefore, Gymnasium Rahlstedt offers from the outset diverse support to reflect on one's own potentials and wishes, to explore working environments, and to make well-founded decisions.
In doing so we emphasize the following aspects and their practical implementation:
- the discovery and reflection of one's own potentials and abilities, for example through self- and peer-assessment by classmates in grades 8 and 11 or the systematic evaluation by the external provider “Berufsnavigator” in grade 11,
- the increasing refinement of personal future visions in alignment with the world of work, beginning with the
- Girls’ and Boys’ Day in the grades 6 and 7,
- continued with company site visits and expert discussions in grades 8 and 11/12,
- the three-week internship in grade 9
- as well as at the Forum Beruf&Studium for the upper school with numerous parents and alumni
- the information about possible educational paths and career fields by providing extensive information materials, in counseling conversations with class teachers, subject teachers, staff of the Federal Employment Agency or the BOSO coordinators as well as at attending fairs and university days, etc.
- creating essential prerequisites for promising applications through application training in the 8th grade classroom and with the support of external partners in grade 11
Career guidance means teamwork oriented to the needs of our students; the responsible coordinators of these processes are Mr. Stumpf for secondary I and Ms. Eckholt for secondary II.
