On Sunday, February 22, the Rahlstedt Gymnasium hosted for the fourth time the regional qualifying round for the German Team Championship in board games (short: RegVor). Unlike the last three years, we entered with three school teams instead of two. Each team consists of 4 players, in our case made up of students, parents, teachers and relatives.

There was not only a new record in the number of school teams, but also in the total number of participating teams: 22 teams, i.e. 88 players, from Hamburg and the surrounding area took part. Nationwide, about 350 teams compete at 18 tournament locations. The top two teams qualified for the German final in Bad Nauheim. Four games were played in different categories:

Family game: Wingspan

Strategy game: Agricola

Card game: Castle Quest

Gambling: The Cartographer

Since autumn break, we have met weekly at the school to train all games and to explore all rule nuances as well as strategies. The best placement of the school teams was achieved by Gymnasium Rahlstedt 1 in the strategy game Agricola, finishing 5th out of 22. In the overall ranking, Gymnasium Rahlstedt 1 placed 12nd, Gymnasium Rahlstedt 2 placed 17th and Gymnasium Rahlstedt 3 placed 19th. The two best players in the individual ranking were Sebastian Massong in 10th place and Iswardan P. from class 5d in 12th place out of 88. However, everyone received a prize (a game) at the end.

For the physical well-being there was also care: a large buffet, with everyone contributing something, kept the mood high even during the lunch break.

Everyone had a lot of fun, and we will compete again next year.
