For several years, the Gymnasium Rahlstedt has offered a music practice program in regular instruction for fifth grades, currently taught by 12 colleagues (usually in double staffing). As a new lecturer for String Course I in Year 5 we were able to recruit Beatriz Pavlicenco. She has completed her concert examination in Violin and teaches, among others, at the Hamburg Conservatory. Warm welcome!
As part of the all-day care, we now also offer courses for advanced players in the area of guitar (with Mr. Lahann) and string instruments (with Mr. Bautz). There are still places available! The instrumental group with Mr. von Hopffgarten, from which a youth orchestra is to be built up again in the long term, also targets children who already have some prior knowledge on an instrument. Prior knowledge, previously acquired in Year 5 in one of the music practice courses, is entirely sufficient for participation. The Friday band in the all-day program with Mr. Tolmachov and the Monday choir with Mr. Krösser are also open to beginners.
As part of the talent promotion, new formats will be tested during the school year. On Tuesdays in the first long break, Mrs. Maschke opens the music room for a musical break, in which children with advanced instrument skills are brought together for chamber music or four-handed piano playing.
We look forward to a music-loving school year!
