Early December, traditionally in the pre-Christmas season 🎄🎅🏻 🕊️, our this year’s reading competition for the 6th grades took place, where after the class competitions a school winner had to be crowned. All 6th grades had selected two students as the best readers of the class in November. Each reader, after a brief book presentation, first reads an excerpt from a self-chosen book and then a foreign text is presented, which could not have been prepared in advance. The criteria are, for both the class and school decision, the fluency of reading as well as the presentation of the text excerpt and the selection of the text excerpt.
(The class winners: Maxie Gehrken and Vincent Stäuber 6a, Alissa Nagel and Niklas Kuhn 6b, Joanna Nguyen and Ferdinand Sarac 6c, Finja Lemke and Timo Meyer 6d, Annabelle Suppes and Liam Füssel 6e, Vicky Hüllmann and Tamina Mehr Haghighat 6f, Carla Westerweck and Oskar Ahrens 6g)
After an exciting competition, where everyone gave their best and the jury, consisting of Mrs. Fröhlich, Mrs. Niklowitz and last year’s winner Zahid Multaheb (now 7c), had to deliberate extensively both on the self-chosen texts and after reading the foreign text, because the choice, especially in the second decisive round, was so difficult, the first three places were finally decided:
The third place went to Vicky Hüllmann from 6f, the second place to Niklas Kuhn from 6b, and the school winner is Ferdinand Sarac from 6c! Ferdinand will take part in February at the district competition and represent our school there! Congratulations to all winners, of course also to the class winners!
If you are looking for exciting books yourself, then take a look here at which readings the national reading competition recommends: https://www.vorlesewettbewerb.de/der-wettbewerb/buchempfehlungen

Otherwise, feel free to visit our library during breaks in the Bibo, the student library in the atrium on the 2nd floor. We have just received two new beanbags (sponsored by the climate council of our school: many thanks!) and in January a new seating area will be delivered.
There are also many wonderful new books, both on UNESCO topics such as sustainability, gender equality, peace, etc. (this time thanks to the UNESCO group of the school) and many new children's and youth books, which we owe to a donation from a Hamburg publishing house: thank you and happy reading for all!
