Today the preliminary round of the competition “Jugend trainiert für Olympia Hallenhockey” of the schools in eastern Hamburg took place, and highly motivated we started with our new coaches Lotti and Anna towards Gymnasium Buckhorn.
The first match against Gymnasium Oberalster we won convincingly, and Albert Schweizer had no chance against our motivated team, which actually consists of 12 players from RHTC who are in classes 5-7 with us.
Unfortunately we had little chance in our third game against Grootmoor and had to concede the three points. Afterwards we could not get beyond a draw (0:0) against Johanneum and so everything hinged on our last game against Carl von Ossietzky Gymnasium. Unfortunately we lost this one 0:2 and finished in 3rd place and thus could not qualify for the final round.
Our boys have clearly shown that they can keep up with the level of this competition and with a bit more luck and one or the other referee decision in our favor we would have deserved to be among the top places in Hamburg. We will now go for them again on the field this summer!
It was a great day with the boys and a big thanks goes to Lotti and Anna, who coached and motivated the boys with a lot of dedication!
