On Sunday, February 16, the regional preliminary round for the German Team Championship in board games (abbrev. RegVor) took place at Gymnasium Rahlstedt for the third time. As in the previous two years, we thought that nothing would be closer than participating with two school teams. Eight participants, consisting of students, parents, teachers, and relatives, represented GyRa.
A total of 15 teams participated this time, i.e., 60 players, from Hamburg and surrounding areas, a new record since RegVor has taken place at GyRa. The two top-placed teams qualified for the German final in Bad Nauheim. Four games were played in different categories:
Family game: Istanbul
Strategy game: Terra Nova
Card game: Mischwald with Alpine expansion
Gambling game: Ganz schön clever
Since the beginning of November we had trained hard. In the Istanbul game, the Gymnasium Rahlstedt team 1 even took 1st place. In the overall standings, however, our two teams only reached 10th and 13th place. Best individual player was Leo Massong in 17th place. In the end, every participant received a prize (a game).
Refreshments were also provided: a large buffet, with everyone contributing a dish, kept up the good mood even during the lunch break.
Everyone had a lot of fun and so we will compete again next year.
