The civil war in Sudan, the regulation of drone use in global conflicts, or the protection of privacy in the age of AI – these are just three of the globally important topics for which 19 students from our Internationality profile sought solutions at the Model United Nations conference in Nyborg, Denmark (“MUNNY”). After intensive preparations in the preceding weeks, our delegates debated from Thursday to Sunday with students from other international schools and represented the perspective of the country assigned to them. All in English and, of course, in compliance with the official dress code!
Our GyRa delegates again joined in vigorously and won several awards as “Best Delegates” in their committees:
– Julia Kolanowska, S4 (Best Delegate in the Crisis Committee)
– Milly Dziallas, S1 (Best Delegate in the Economic and Social Council)
– Svantje Priess, S4 (Best Advocate in the International Court of Justice)
– Helena Gobbert, S1 (Best First Timer in the Security Council)
– Emil Schatz, S1 (Best First Timer in the Crisis Committee)
Beyond intense debates, a lot of diplomacy and the search for compromises in the style of the “real” United Nations, fun must of course not be neglected. There was the opportunity to make international acquaintances, and a MUN party on Saturday was of course not to be missed.
On Sunday evening we arrived tired but with unforgettable memories at Hamburg central train station. MUNNY – thanks for having us. We’re looking forward to seeing you next year!
