From the Mathematics Class of 5b: A Survey Project

HSV or St. Pauli after all?

We are Rabija, Lili and Shahzad. We come from class 5b. From November to January we did a survey project in mathematics, led by Mr. Massong. At the end of 2025 we were allowed to design our posters. For the question we chose: “What is your favorite football club?” In total we asked 300 people. And this is the result:
The numerical result is: „HSV“: 86 people, „St. Pauli“: 51 people, „a different club“: 72 people, „none or several“: 92 people.
This means: HSV has 29 %, St. Pauli 17 %, „one other club“ have 24 % said and „none or another club“ have 30 % said.
This means, the largest share are HSV fans. But beware: Not even every third person in Hamburg is an HSV fan! But one thing is certain: HSV has the most fans!

War Angst in Hamburg

We are Lasse, Hadis, Nele and Mattes from class 5b.
In mathematics class with Mr. Massong we conducted a survey project. The topic we chose was “War,” because it affects many people and we wanted to know if and how many people are afraid of war.

For our survey we interviewed people at the market and various other places in Rahlstedt. In total – with the help of our fellow students – we surveyed 1,495 people. 824 people said „Yes“ and 671 people said „No“.

During the survey we talked to many different people and heard many interesting life stories. That was especially exciting for us. It was also exciting to see that sometimes more “Yes” votes and sometimes more “No” votes came in.

We noticed that especially very young but also very old people are afraid of war.
